Mom to Mom?

So I have never been a master of small talk or chit chat. In fact I am TERRIBLE at it!! Most often when faced with a situation where small talk is necessary I find myself thinking, "I have nothing to say..." I have tried to figure out ways to improve in this area (because it does make me a bit socially awkward LOL), but to no avail.

So now I am the proud momma of a most darling little boy. And as I am sitting and feeding him through the day and he is looking up at me with those big beautiful eyes I feel I should have all sorts of important stories and lessons to tell him about. But again I come up with a total blank!!

So what do you more seasoned mothers DO while feeding your baby? Or do you just sit in silent wonder?

Just tell my babes how loved they are and constantly smile and touch their precious faces. That's all they need.

Sing the Fido song.

I have always sung to my babies. My mom used to tease me that I sang to them more than spoke to them!!!

Heather!! Where have you been!!! So glad to see you..

I am always at a loss for songs too! I KNOW I KNOW songs, but for some reason I draw a blank for lyrics etc. Last night I made up a song that he found amusing (or maybe just Cla and I found it amusing LOL)...and he also seemed to like Do a Deer which popped into my head for some reason.

Gobba,

You know that only GRANDMAS sing the Fido song!

Use his 10 little precious toes or fingers to pray the rosary and marvel at God's goodness all at the same time!

Talk to him telling him of what you hope his life will be like...how much he is loved not only by you but by many others...let him know of all his cousins that he will play with, those already here and those to come, and just tell him of all your "daydreams".......

I just tell Shoopie what's in my heart. I take it from my heart and put it into words.
I remember when she was quite tiny we had a very serious talk and I told her she was going to do very important things in life and that I was going to help her do what she had to do. I know it sounds crazy and silly but we had a stronger bond and deeper connection from that point on.
Oh yeah, and tell him everyday that he was made by God and for God Alone. Talk about Jesus and Mary. Sing the Salve Regina and all those......! Mae knows the Salve Regina,.....every word.
And of course you can talk about whatever you want...........politics,...theology,....stories about Cla....just whatever you would tell me. :)or Cla :) He'll understand!!! I'm not kidding!!! It's amazing to me what MC understands and understood.
and oh, yeah again,...I made up songs,....there is the Shoopie song (a couple actually) and she sings it with me now and it was one of the first things she ever heard.
Tell him you hate small talk and so does his 'Aunt' Suzanna ;)

I always just try to sleep. Which I guess expresses the depth of my spirituality!
