Anna has shown a real improvement in her eating the last few weeks. Still far from normal for her age, but she "gets" hunger finally it seems. She has more consistent "go to" foods that we can count on for her to eat when offered.
Right now she is really enjoying some plain oatmeal with brown sugar stirred in for breakfast. She won't finish a whole bowl, but close to half. And more importantly she eats it steadily, she doesn't purposefully spill it or throw it (she drips, but just because she is still working on those spoon skills) and she smiles while doing it....no whining or crying.

Wow, that is great! Any reason why you think she might have made this improvement?
Katherine, I can only guess. Mostly I assume it is just how much she has grown...she is just growing and growing by leaps and bounds. She is gaining roughly a pound a month and gaining in height every month too. So she is truly hungry. And with age comes some added maturity.
Also, we have actually STOPPED giving her all of her medication for various reasons. She was taking a medication that was supposed to help with gastric emptying, but I don't think it did anything but empty our wallets. And she was taking meds for reflux. She certainly has reflux as it has been seen on her Upper GI and her milk scan. We didn't mean to stop this one (it is a long story as to why we did) but it has certainly made no difference in her eating...her eating has improved. So we will see what the doc says. Her GI is big into reflux meds.
Also she has no tube down her throat. And I don't care what we are told I am sure at some level, it was uncomfortable. Especially with how often we had to replace her tube I can't imagine it didn't irritate her throat. I can't imagine it didn't effect the actual FUNCTIONING of the throat etc etc And she certainly pukes less without it!
So there are my guesses LOL
