It's A New Liturgical Year!!

It is out most favorite time of year!!! We LOVE Advent!! Today is the first Sunday of Advent and this begins the season of hopeful anticipation and preparation for the birth of Christ!

This first Sunday we always break out our big nativity scene and assemble it. This year we kept things on the simple side and a bit smaller. No water falls, streams, ponds, or caves this year. But it still looks lovely.

This year Ben helped make design decisions and put a few things in place.

And the little critters eating some macaroni and cheese. This has become somewhat of a Sunday tradition....mac n cheese at the kiddie table usually while watching a video as a special treat. Tonight they just watched teh nativity scene go up!

Uh! What a handsome boy!!

We haven't added new pieces for quite a while. We just don't have the space.

You do such an elaborate nativity set! Now, how do you handle with the kids playing with it? Is it allowed? Mine are playing with it, which is great, but it means that the set is a total mess and in chaos.

Katherine,

we don't allow them to play with it. There is a lot of Fontanini but there is also a good amount of very old and breakable Italian pieces that were my MIL's. We have started purchasing some Ostheimer nativity figures for them to play with. They will get the first few for St. Nicholas Day.

Ben has always been good about not messing with it. Anna has grabbed for the wisemen at the edge a few times today but we just redirect her. The cat is the problem. He jumps up there to sit LOL
